FishTix
Privacy Policy
Effective 1 October 2026. Draft for legal review before the App Store submission.
What FishTix is
FishTix records commercial salmon deliveries in Alaska and files the resulting fish tickets with the State of Alaska's eLandings system on behalf of the buying processor. A fish ticket is a legal record required by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G). Much of what the app collects exists because that record requires it.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, name, and mobile number if you give one.
- Fishing details: your vessel's ADF&G number and name, your CFEC permit numbers, the statistical areas you fished, dates, gear, chilling method, and the weights and counts of fish delivered.
- Signatures: the image of your drawn signature, a cryptographic hash of the ticket you signed, the time, your device identifier, and your location at the moment you signed, when you allow it. These make the electronic signature a verifiable record.
- Vessel registry checks: when you type an ADF&G number we ask the State's registry whether it exists and whether its listed owner matches your name. The registry's owner details are kept on our server only and are never shown in the app.
- Technical: app version and sync logs needed to keep your tickets consistent between your device and our servers.
Who sees it
- The tender that weighs your delivery and the processor that buys it see the ticket. That is the transaction they are party to.
- The State of Alaska receives the fish ticket through eLandings, as the law requires.
- Nobody else. We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
Where it lives
Data is stored with Supabase (Postgres, hosted in the United States) and synchronised to your device through PowerSync so the app works without a signal. The filing service runs on Railway. All connections are encrypted in transit; sessions on your phone are kept in the device's secure storage.
How long we keep it
Fish tickets are legal records and are kept for as long as ADF&G requires processors to retain them. If you delete your account, your name, email and phone are removed and your tickets are anonymised; the tickets themselves remain because the processor and the State are required to keep them.
Your choices
- Location is optional. Declining it removes the position from your signature record; the signature is still valid.
- You can change your name, email and password, export your season, and delete your account from the Profile screen.
- Questions or requests: privacy@fishtix.app.
Children
FishTix is for licensed commercial fishermen, tender crews and processor staff. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
We will post changes here and note the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app.
